Linked to the development of the fungus candida albicans, and therefore not to be confused with vaginosis, vaginal yeast infection is a very common gynecological infection. Indeed, 75% of women will be affected at least once in their life. Most of the time benign, however, it is accompanied by many unpleasant symptoms: itching, profuse white discharge, burning sensations, pain during intercourse, etc. And unfortunately, recurrences are not rare, hence the desire to find solutions to prevent its occurrence. There are indeed many natural remedies to overcome this vaginal infection. However, the best is still to take daily measures to avoid vaginal yeast infection. Here are a few !
1) Choosing the right method of contraception
Contraception can affect sexuality, especially vaginal lubrication. This can therefore promote friction during intercourse, thus leading to lesions conducive to the development of a yeast infection. It also changes your hormonal balance, which can also promote yeast infections. In the event of recurrent vaginal yeast infection, the question of changing contraception must therefore arise. IUD, pill, implant… Talk to your doctor, gynecologist or midwife right away. A professional will be able to direct you to the right dose of estrogen and progesterone to maintain a good balance.
2) Good use of washcloths and towels
The washcloth is a nest of germs, and can therefore promote vaginal yeast infection if you do not change it each time you use it. A clean hand, however, can replace it hands down! As for the towels, they are used clean and without rubbing. By making a movement of tapping rather than rubbing, drying will be gentler. Your vulva will be better preserved!
3) Ban internal and / or excessive toilet
It should be remembered that excessive hygiene is very damaging to the vaginal flora. Doing more than one or two intimate toilets per day can therefore cause itching and unpleasant odors, the same ones you thought you would stop or avoid with frequent “scrubbing”! In addition, trying to cleanse too much, especially inside the vagina (which cleans and regulates itself) is the best way to unbalance it with the inadequate pH of water and toiletries. This will therefore create a favorable ground for yeast infection and vaginosis. The intimate toilet must remain external in all circumstances.
4) Don’t use just anything
Ban the use of disinfectants that alter your fragile vaginal flora. Indeed, it is quite possible to use water, which is more than enough to dissolve vaginal secretions. If you need to use a cleanser, forget about the solid soap which is one of the worst germ nests in the bathroom. Liquid soap in a bottle, ideally fragrance-free, will be gentler and more hygienic.
5) Avoid baths to avoid vaginal yeast infection
With recurrent vaginal yeast infection, taking baths is not ideal. Bathing too long in water and foaming products will indeed dry out the epidermis and the already weakened mucous membranes. It is therefore better to take a short shower, especially if the yeast infection is declared. It will be much less drying on a daily basis.
