We all have days that just feel, well, damn hard. Sometimes you can identify the cause (poor night’s sleep, stress at work, knowing you have a marathon of chores to do) and sometimes you just don’t want to. Of course, in an ideal world, we’d all be able to lie comfortably in bed watching a soothing show or reading a favorite book on days when we’re typically lacking in motivation. But unfortunately, this is not always the case.
So if you’ve recently found yourself dragging your feet to get out in the morning or for your third cup of coffee at 10 a.m., this week’s playlist is for you. These upbeat songs are all meant to put some pep in your step and a smile on your face. While it’s not a workout playlist by name, you can definitely use it to fuel your morning cardio or strength training routine just as easily.
You’ll find tracks from indie darlings Tegan and Sara, the 1975 and Bleachers, as well as more recent hits from Janelle Monáe, Taylor Swift and Maggie Rogers. For a little extra fun, a few hip-hop tracks — “Sure Shot” by Beastie Boys and “Check the Rhime” by A Tribe Called Quest — also make it onto this list. All in all, it’s an eclectic mix, but one that we hope will help you open your eyes a little wider, drop your shoulders from your ears, puff out your chest, and know you can handle whatever the day has in store for you.
