23 Songs Excellent for a Sunny Spring Exercise

103

I can’t stand the cold. And even though I love running, once the temperatures drop, the days get shorter, and there’s ice on the ground, I’ll do whatever I can to avoid running outside and just use the treadmill instead. So every year, after months of exercising indoors, I find myself looking forward to the first signs of spring. As soon as the temperatures start to climb and green buds appear on the trees, I look to take my workouts outside and add some fresh new music to kick off the spring season. (And yes, I know that spring technically started in March, but it was very cold until recently.)

This week’s playlist is full of happy tunes, punchy beats and pop remixes that will absolutely make you want to rock. On this list, you’ll find hits you can sing along to by Katy Perry, Ellie Goulding, and Kesha, plus remixes by Troye Sivan, Hailee Steinfeld, Lizzo, and more.

There’s one song on this list in particular, Daft Punk’s classic « Around the World, » which is just over seven minutes long (really). I added this one for runners, but it’s great for all kinds of cardio. Often when I’m on a mile run, I find myself reaching for repetitive electronic beats to distract me from how long I’ve been running and help me get away from it all. There’s something about a steady beat and an endless sample loop that puts me in a meditative state. So that’s the purpose of this trail. When it lights up, try to let your mind wander. Take your eyes off the clock. Log out. It could make the time pass much faster. And if electronics really aren’t your thing, feel free to skip to the next song.

Whatever type of workout you choose to do, I hope you can get outside and enjoy some nice spring weather this month.
