Singer and actress Selena Gomez just shared some tips for coping with tough mental health days. Gomez, 29, has been through a lot in recent years. In 2015, she received chemotherapy after being diagnosed with lupus, a chronic inflammatory autoimmune disease that attacks tissues and organs in the body. Two years later, she shared with fans that she had a kidney transplant after the disease caused her kidneys to stop. And in 2020, she revealed that she had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. She has also spoken openly about her struggles with anxiety and depression.

So when she shared her favorite strategies for poor mental health earlier this week, fans were listening to her. Gomez was asked how she takes care of her mind and replied on the Instagram account for the wonderful spirit, the mental health platform that she is co-launching in February 2022.

“Sometimes I’m not good at it,” she confessed. « Like, it just happens where I’m going to wake up and I come, I struggle, you know, maybe sometimes it’s just getting out of bed. »

His number one strategy these days? “The main thing that helps me is just picking up the phone and calling someone,” she said.

She also strives to learn more about herself in order to better understand what affects her mood. “I have constantly tried to fill myself with knowing how I am feeling and the triggers that are happening to me,” she said. “So I think what really helps me understand myself a little bit more is that I can, you know, take a step back and think about all the tools that I have learned and try to put them to work. in my everyday life. Finally, she discovered that it was helpful to find a way to sweat. “Also, I suggest exercising,” she said. « I hate training, it’s not fun, but I recently took some intense boxing lessons, and it really helped release a lot of frustration, but also just energy, and I was feels so good. «
