In keeping with these researchers, being left-handed is an indication of nice intelligence and personalities show it

Being left-handed is not always easy. Before it was considered the devil’s hand, many left-handers are « upset » and were forced to write with their right hand. Yet a study proves that left-handed people are much better than right-handed people. At least when it comes to math!

According to data presented by Le Parisien, 15% of French people. And last August 13, it was the international day of left-handers, created in 1976 to fight against their stigma and discrimination.

Left-handers have long been the subject of myths. It was believed that left-handed people would die sooner and that there was a link between being left-handed and crime. The left hand was even considered the hand of the devil. Many young children have been forced to use only their right hands, in front of « annoyed left-handed people ».

Halves of brain

There are also many theories that left-handed people are smarter than right-handed people. The researchers even found that the right hemisphere of left-handers is larger than average, which means their perception of space and cognitive skills is better.

Lefties also have a larger corpus callosum, which means they can process information faster, as the connection between the two halves of the brain is increased.

IFL Science has studied research on left-handedness and math skills to determine if the theory is correct.

They conducted a series of tests with 2,300 students of different ages. The participants were given various math exercises of different difficulty levels. They also asked which hand was preferred for various activities such as writing, drawing, throwing and combing.

After the test, it was clear that left-handed people were able to solve difficult problems better than right-handed people. There was not much difference between the groups for the less difficult math exercises. Those who answered that they had never used their left hand for activities were the ones with the lowest score.

That said, it’s important to stress that your intelligence doesn’t depend on which hand you prefer to use!

Some personalities who are or were left-handed are, for example: David Bowie, Winston Churchill, Leonardo Da Vinci, Marie Curie, Morgan Freeman, Bill Gates, Jimi Hendrix, Paul McCartney, Barack Obama, Marilyn Monroe or even Brad Pitt!
