Brooke Shields shared a restoration replace and health club progress video after breaking her femur


After breaking a thigh bone earlier this year, Brooke Shields shared that she has made great strides in her recovery.

Shields appeared at the American Ballet Theater Fall Gala in New York City this week, feeling a lot more like her. “This is the first time I’ve really worn heels and walked for a long time,” she said. Shields broke her femur in January when she fell from a balance board during a workout, she said People. She described the pain as « excruciating ». Shields then spent over two weeks in the hospital where she underwent procedures to implant a metal plate to secure the bone and two metal rods into her hip. Unfortunately, there were complications after her hospital stay, including a staph infection, which required her to return to the hospital and undergo emergency surgery.

Since then, however, Shields has recovered and shared progressive recovery updates along the way. In February, she shared Instagram videos of herself using a walker at the hospital and working on physiotherapy exercises. At the end of March, she shared photos of herself in a hospital bed and her leg in a cast. « Rehabilitation and reconstruction », she captioned a Instagram slideshow of photos showing her performing strength exercises on a mat.

Most recently, Shields shared a video of herself working out leg exercises in the gym to show how far she’s gone. « Resume the rhythm of things », she captioned the Instagram Publish.

Shields’ return to the gym shows just how far she’s come over the year, especially after an accident which at one point she feared had left her paralyzed, says Page Six. “I don’t like something to get the best of me,” she said. « Especially not a stupid, stupid accident. »
