The living room sofa is always very important in the house: everyone gets together to watch TV, watch series, eat popcorn while watching a movie… However, everything we use needs to be maintained.
Therefore, we have to clean the sofa from time to time. The most recommended is every two weeks or, at least, once a month.
Let’s go! You will need :
– A soft bristle brush
– An old toothbrush;
– Vacuum cleaner ;
– A neutral detergent or a spray bottle containing equal parts of water and alcohol vinegar;
– A dropper
Mixing soap for cleaning the sofa
How to make the small mixture to clean the sofa:
– 50 ml of alcohol
– 120 ml of alcohol vinegar;
– 1/2 tablespoon of non-concentrated fabric softener;
– 325 ml of water;
– 1/2 tablespoon of baking soda.
The shelf life of this mixture is 3 months
Okay, now that you have separated everything you will need to clean the sofa at home, get ready for the 3 cleaning steps.
By the way, it is worth remembering that this is a heavier cleaning, which you can do every 15 days or even once a month. It’s as simple as that !
1st step: Remove the dust
Use the vacuum cleaner to remove all the dirt from the sofa. If you don’t have one, you can use a soft bristle brush.
“I indicate that I use the vacuum cleaner because in addition to making the job faster, it removes dust from the surface and the fabric of the sofa,” explains Flávia.
2nd step: remove stains
Use a neutral detergent or a 50/50 mixture of water and alcohol vinegar. Using a dropper, apply the detergent and carefully use an old soft-bristled toothbrush to remove stains.
Finally, apply the sofa cleaner mixture using the sprayer all over the upholstered furniture.
Clean with the soft bristle brush. If the pile is stiff, it can tear the threads from the fabric and damage the sofa.
What if the sofa is made of leather?
Just vacuum the sofa, or remove dirt with the soft bristle brush, then clean with mild soap, using a soft cloth.
