« Mom, it doesn’t want to go down! » « .

I peek into the bathroom. And there, I see my son making a funny face on the throne…

He has a stomach ache but can’t go to the toilet.

Unfortunately, dealing with constipation issues in toddlers is complicated.

But recently, my friend Laurence, who is a nurse in a hospital in Alsace, shared with me her recipe for anti-constipation sweets.

Today, it’s my turn to share with you this amazing but very effective remedy against constipation (thank you Laurence!). Look :

Ingredients

215 g organic extra-virgin coconut oil, melted (approx. 16 tbsp)

– 6 to 8 cl (depending on taste) squeezed lemon juice

– 2 tablespoons of organic honey (it also works with Maple syrup)

– 1/4 teaspoon of Himalayan pink salt

1 or 2 silicone molds. With 2 molds, you can make more candies in one go.

a household robot Or a mixer

How to prepare sweets against constipation?

How to do

1. Start by putting the silicone molds in the freezer for about 10 minutes.

2. Pour all the ingredients into the bowl of your food processor or into the carafe of your blender.

3. Mix and taste as you add the ingredients. Depending on your taste, add lemon juice (for more acidity) and honey (to sweeten the mixture).

4. Continue to mix, until all the ingredients are fully incorporated in coconut oil.

If the ingredients are not mixed enough with the coconut oil, you will have more difficulty pouring the mixture into the molds because of the honey, which is denser and tends to stick to the bottom of the container.

5. Continue mixing for one minute. In the meantime, take the molds out of the freezer.

6. Pour the mixture into the silicone molds and put them in the freezer for about 1 hour.

She also adds “For the children, I give a dose of 2 candies a day, and I wait a whole day to see how they react.

“For adults, I start with a dose of 4 candies. Then I add 1 a day to determine the best dose for each person”.

Why does it work?

The ingredients of this candy are super effective for stimulate normal transit and relieve temporary constipation.

Why ? According to Laurence, « it’s mainly because coconut oil has a high content of medium chain triglycerides (MCT). MCTs are known to prevent the accumulation of fat in the human body. They also tend to easily pass through the digestive tract. »

It is this particularity of coconut oil that makes it particularly suitable for improve bowel function and prevent constipation.

What are the causes of constipation?

How to relieve the pain of constipation in your children?

It is essential to distinguish between transient constipation and chronic constipation, the latter often being associated with serious illnesses.

The causes of the transient constipation are diverse: stress, feeling of shame when going to the toilet, food disturbance, psychogenic causes, dehydration, etc.

On the other hand, several scientific studies indicate that the chronic constipation is linked to much more serious problems, such as a imbalance of the intestinal floratrace element deficiency, allergies or even hypothyroidism.

Of course, if one of my little brats suffered from chronic constipation, I will immediately consult a qualified doctor so that he can identify and treat the origin of the constipation problem.

What are other natural remedies for constipation?

There are other natural remedies for constipation and intestinal disorders.

Among the most effective, I recommend in particular pure aloe vera juice and the slippery elm bark powder.

The advantage of these two remedies is that they have a sweet taste that children love.

But there is another effective, albeit surprising, remedy.

If your kids are old enough, try buying them a squatting stool to go to the bathroom: the famous Squatty Potty.

2 feet resting on the squatty potty

One of the concerns of our Western societies is the ergonomics of toilets which are not adapted to our intestines.

Indeed, the shape of the toilets means that we are not squatting enough.

To remedy this, the Squatty Potty is an ideal stool because it allows you to have a squatting position when you go to the toilet.

It helps children and adults adopt the most natural position for defecating.

Thus, a well-positioned Squatty Potty helps to pass stools quickly, easily and WITHOUT pain because the colon is thus well aligned.

The Squatty Potty comes in two sizes: in size 19 cm for conventional toilets and size 23cm for higher toilets.
